SUMMARY
Synopsis of SCONC Amendment
The
Senate Conservation Committee amendment requires the study to incorporate all
requirements under the Air Quality Control Act, including the use of credible
scientific evidence. In addition, ED must determine the scope and design of the
study through a process that involves the public. ED must report the status of
expenditures to the appropriate interim legislative committee not later than

appropriates $400 thousand from the General Fund to the Environment Department
(ED) to study State ambient air quality standards.
Significant Issues
The results of this study may require funding to
ameliorate any negative findings.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $400.0
contained in this bill is a non-recurring expense to the General Fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of Fiscal Year 2006
shall revert to the General Fund.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
ED should be able to
fulfill the requirements of this bill with existing staff.
