SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 69
appropriates $75 thousand from the general fund to the office of cultural affairs
for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to contract for children’s performing arts
program services with a nonprofit performing arts program that annually
performs at least five plays by and for children.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of
$75.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended
or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert
to the general fund.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
New Mexico Arts
Division allocates funds to nonprofit arts organizations, including children’s
performing arts programs. In FY04, the
Preservation, Arts and Library Services program was allocated $4,957.5 from the
general fund. The office of cultural
affairs estimates that, of this amount, $44.0 thousand dollars will be used to
fund children’s performing arts programs statewide. This bill would significantly increase the
general fund dollars allocated through the Art’s Division’s arts services
contracts for children’s performing arts programs.
