SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 491 appropriates $300.0 thousand from the general fund to the board of regents at the University of New Mexico for the pediatric oncology program at the health sciences center.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The appropriation of $300.0 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 would revert to the general fund.

The Commission on Higher Education budget recommendation included $300.0 for pediatric oncology to hire additional staff, provide training to local health care professionals and expand outreach to communities.
