SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

The Senate Public Affairs Committee Substitute to Senate Bill 186 changes the name of the New Mexico Film Advisory Board to the Governor’s Council on Film and Media Industries.

Significant Issues

As the film industry rapidly adopts new technologies, the name “film” limits the scope of jobs and services in this field.  The new name implemented through this bill better describes the functions of the film advisory board.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

SB 186/SPAC is similar to SB 186, except that the $100.0 appropriation has been removed.  An appropriation of $100.0 is included in the general appropriation act and the executive budget recommendation for the Governor’s Council on Film and Media Industries.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

According to the EDD, this bill will not impact their operations.
