SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

House Memorial 18 encourages the governor to locate his proposed film institute in Santa Fe because of the interest and perceived benefits of connecting this institute to the Santa Fe Community College including the existing infrastructure, curricula, faculty, and close proximity to state government.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

While there is no appropriation associated with this joint memorial, the city of Santa Fe and Santa Fe community college could benefit from the institute being placed in Santa Fe.

OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES

The Economic Development Department notes Santa Fe is one of many communities and institutions who perceive this proposed institute would best be served in their area.
