Fiscal impact reports (FIRs) are prepared by the Legislative Finance Committee (LFC) for standing finance committees of the NM Legislature. The LFC does not assume responsibility for the accuracy of these reports if they are used for other purposes.

Current FIRs (in HTML & Adobe PDF formats) are available on the NM Legislative Website (legis.state.nm.us).  Adobe PDF versions include all attachments, whereas HTML versions may not.  Previously issued FIRs and attachments may also be obtained from the LFC in Suite 101 of the State Capitol Building North.

SUMMARY

     Synopsis of HTC Amendment

The House Transportation Committee amendment inserts the State Land Commissioner into the memorial. Some or all of the land in question may be state trust land, which would require the Land Commissioner’s involvement.

Synopsis of Original Bill

House Joint Memorial 73 requests the New Mexico Department of Transportation to cooperate with Torrance county and the city of Moriarty to create a DWI memorial of perpetual tears.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

HJM 73 does not contain an appropriation. The requirement for NMDOT to cooperate with these local governments would not pose a fiscal or administrative problem for NMDOT.
