SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 502 proposes to create an interim
legislative committee to review the Election Code for consistent definitions,
possible standardizations of absentee requirements for all elections,
consistency in consolidation of polling places and standardization of the
absentee ballot counting process.
Significant Issues
This bill is a direct result of a recommendation
from the Election Reform Task Force.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
There
are no significant fiscal implications associated with this bill.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
The Secretary of State indicates there are
moderate administrative implications associated with this bill. Providing assistance for such a comprehensive
review of the Election Code in a Presidential election year will be difficult
for the Bureau of Elections.
