SUMMARY

 

Synopsis of Bill

House Bill 332 appropriates $59 thousand from the general fund to the Commission on Higher Education (CHE) for operation of the youth college program.

 

Significant Issues

 

The youth college program is a 2 week seminar that takes place at Luna Community College.  The program services 120 underprivileged middle schools students.  New Mexico Highlands University provides room and board for students to experience the full college experience.

 

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

 

The appropriation of $59.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY 05 shall revert to the general fund.

 

 

 

RELATIONSHIP

 

House Bill 478 appropriates $59.0 from the general fund to the governing board of Luna vocational-technical institute for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 for youth college expenses.
