MEMORIAL
DECLARING FEBRUARY 6, 2004 AS
"DONOR DAY" IN THE LEGISLATURE; REQUESTING THAT THE GOVERNOR PROCLAIM
FEBRUARY TO BE DONOR MONTH.
WHEREAS,
February is national donor month; and
WHEREAS,
thousands of New Mexicans' lives have been touched by volunteer blood donors,
bone marrow donors and tissue and organ donors who selflessly gave of
themselves to save lives; and
WHEREAS,
to meet the growing need for these lifesaving gifts in our state, it is
recommended that volunteers give blood three times a year, coordinate blood
drives in their communities, workplaces or places of worship, sign up for the
national marrow donor registry and make it known to family members of their
desire to become a tissue and organ donor; and
WHEREAS,
by participating in these altruistic acts, New Mexicans truly give the gift of
life;
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW
MEXICO that February 6, 2004 be designated "Donor Day" in the
legislature; and
BE IT
FURTHER RESOLVED that the governor be requested to proclaim February as
"Donor Month"; and
BE IT
FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the governor.
