AN ACT

RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE A SALARY AND BENEFITS INCREASE FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 for the following purposes:

                (1) eleven million forty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($11,042,500) to provide a salary and benefits increase for correctional officers; and

                (2) nine hundred seventy-two thousand three hundred dollars ($972,300) to provide a salary and benefits increase for probation and parole officers and supervisors for probation and parole officers.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
