AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ASSIST PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN CURRICULUM PLANNING FOR SEX AND PARENTING EDUCATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to assist public school districts in curriculum planning to provide sex education, including information about teen pregnancy and parenting, that is consistent with the desires of the parents and communities and that is aligned with state standards and benchmarks. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
