AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO CONTRACT FOR CHARACTER COUNTS PROGRAM SERVICES IN CHAVES COUNTY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy thousand dollars ($70,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to contract for character counts program services in Chaves county. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
