AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO FUND LACTATION CLINIC SERVICES AND SUPPLIES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to fund a lactation clinic to be staffed by lactation consultants and specialists and to provide for ancillary costs, including supplies, to assist low-income, uninsured and other mothers to breastfeed their children for an appropriate period of time. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
