FOR THE CORRECTIONS OVERSIGHT AND JUSTICE COMMITTEE
AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO OPERATE A CONTROLLED RELEASE AND REINTEGRATION PROGRAM FOR FEMALE INMATES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to operate a controlled release and reintegration program for female inmates. In the alternative, the corrections department may reallocate existing resources to operate the program for female inmates. The program shall be located in the Rio Grande corridor. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
