AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A JOINT CIVIC ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE BETWEEN THE COLLEGES OF EDUCATION OF NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 for the regional educational technology assistance program of the college of education in conjunction with the community learning and public service program of the college of education at the university of New Mexico to implement a web-based civic curriculum for use in the classroom to enhance civic education and to develop and sustain annual New Mexico civic engagement teacher institutes to advance teacher professional development on civic education. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
