AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO UPGRADE THE CENTRAL SYSTEM FOR CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF CERTAIN GAMING MACHINES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three million dollars ($3,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico gaming control board for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 and subsequent fiscal years to upgrade the central system for continuous monitoring of gaming machines at the premises of gaming operator licensees that are racetracks or gaming operator licensees that are nonprofit organizations. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
