Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
SENATE BILL 71
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. On page 1, line 11, at the end of the line insert "SCHOOL".
2. On page 1, line 12, strike "IN EVERY SCHOOL".
3. On page 1, line 17, before "NURSE" insert "SCHOOL" and strike "IN EVERY SCHOOL".
4. On page 1, strike lines 20 through 25, strike page 2 in its entirety and strike page 3, lines 1 through 8 and insert in lieu thereof:
"rules to implement the "school nurse program". The program shall ensure that a sufficient number of licensed nurses are employed in the public schools to meet or exceed standards set by the national association of school nurses, which is one nurse for every seven hundred fifty students. The goal of the school nurse program is to add twenty nurses a school year for the next nine years in the New Mexico public schools. The department may establish guidelines for assigning nurses to school districts.".
5. On page 3, line 12, before "nurse" insert "school" and strike "in every school".,
and thence referred to the FINANCE COMMITTEE.
