AN ACT

RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENTS ON CERTAIN ROADS VITAL TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES IN NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Eight million four hundred thousand dollars ($8,400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of transportation for expenditure in fiscal years 2005 and 2006 for the purpose of development and improvements on the following roads, which are vital to economic development activities in New Mexico:

                (1) three million dollars ($3,000,000) for improvements on the northwest loop road west of Albuquerque in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, including planning, right-of-way acquisition for and design and construction of a two-lane, all-weather road with minor drainage improvements, starting from interstate 40 in Bernalillo county and continuing north for approximately fifteen miles;

                (2) one million four hundred thousand dollars ($1,400,000) for road improvements for forest service road 235 located at the base of Water canyon to the top of Magdalena ridge for approximately seven miles; and

                (3) four million dollars ($4,000,000) for reconstruction of a two-lane highway with necessary safety and intersection improvements from the Texas state line on state road 234 to state road 207 for approximately five and one-half miles.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
