AN ACT
RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SCHOOL PERSONNEL TRAINING PROGRAM IN PROBATIONARY SCHOOLS TO CLOSE THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP BETWEEN MINORITY AND OTHER STUDENTS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to train school personnel in probationary schools in cultural competencies as a means to close the achievement gap between minority and other students. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
