AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Three million one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($3,150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

                (1) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to expand the pediatric oncology program in the school of medicine;

                (2) five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to ensure the continuation of services at Carrie Tingley hospital;

                (3) seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) to support the acquisition of additional print and internet resources at the health sciences library and information center; and

                (4) one million six hundred thousand dollars ($1,600,000) to expand access to treatment for New Mexicans infected with the hepatitis C virus and living in rural or outlying areas through the use of telemedicine and internet technology.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
