AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO OFFICE OF INDIAN AFFAIRS TO FUND CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT AGRICULTURE RESEARCH.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico office of Indian affairs for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to conduct research on controlled environment agriculture issues, including applying and maintaining smart network sensing to newly constructed greenhouses, monitoring the effects of water and nutrient usage on productivity, examining the effects of environmental issues on plant growth rate and determining possible large-scale water savings by applying principles of controlled environment agriculture. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
