RECOGNIZING THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF ROBERTA C. SALAZAR HENRY AND THANKING HER FOR TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO.
WHEREAS, Roberta C. Salazar Henry has devoted a quarter of a century of her life to the cause of wildlife management and funding, dividing her time between the state's financial obligation to properly manage and fund wildlife projects and programs, and bringing forward fiscally responsible wildlife initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Salazar Henry is leaving her post as assistant director of the department of game and fish in the year 2003 after serving previously as a legislative liaison, agency assistant director, financial specialist and supervisor, and federal aid grant coordinator; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Salazar Henry excelled in all of these roles, bringing to each assignment an unprecedented dedication of purpose and steadfastness in the face of controversial topics and decisions; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Salazar Henry's accomplishments at the department of game and fish include devising legal ways to maximize federal grant dollars to assist with the proper management of the state's game and fish, implementing a fair and impartial special hunt drawing system and seeking the acquisition of funding for such projects as the renovation of Bear Canyon lake in Grant county for the enjoyment of all the state's citizens; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Salazar Henry's acumen earned her an unprecedented seat on the federal grants and aid committee of the international association of fish and wildlife agencies; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Salazar Henry is an active fly fishing angler who loves to devote hours to the sport and is affectionately known by those close to her as "Bert" and in her retirement, she hopes to devote more time to this outdoor interest of wetting a fly;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that hearty congratulations and sincere thanks be extended to Roberta C. Salazar Henry for her years of dedicated service to the people of the state of New Mexico and that she be wished well in her retirement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to Roberta Salazar Henry.
