REQUESTING THAT THE SECTION OF INTERSTATE 70 BETWEEN ROSWELL AND MILE MARKER 325 BE DESIGNATED THE "ROBERT SOLIZ AND DAMON TALBOT HIGHWAY".
WHEREAS, New Mexico state police officers Robert Soliz and Damon Talbot died in the line of duty in a helicopter accident on October 19, 2001; and
WHEREAS, officers Soliz and Talbot were residents of Roswell, New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, these two New Mexico state police officers had committed themselves throughout their careers to ensuring the public safety of New Mexicans; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Soliz and Mr. Talbot should be memorialized for dying while in the pursuit of making New Mexico a safer place for its citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state transportation commission designate the section of interstate 70 between Roswell and mile marker 325 as the "Robert Soliz and Damon Talbot highway".
