REQUESTING THE BERNALILLO COUNTY COMMISSION TO NAME THE SOUTH VALLEY MEAL SITE THE "SENATOR EDDIE BARBOA MEAL SITE CENTER".
WHEREAS, Eddie Barboa, who served in the New Mexico house of representatives for one term and in the New Mexico senate for two terms, was a lifelong citizen and political activist in the south valley of Bernalillo county; and
WHEREAS, Senator Barboa took the lead in establishing the first water and sewer project for the citizens of the south valley; and
WHEREAS, Senator Barboa's fight for clean water and sanitary sewer systems took him to the halls of the United States congress, where he was successful in obtaining financial assistance; and
WHEREAS, Senator Barboa's passion for helping the youth and the elderly in need in his district resulted in many new programs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the Bernalillo county commission be requested to name the senior meal site in the south valley the "Senator Eddie Barboa Meal Site Center"; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the members of the Bernalillo county commission.
