46th legislature - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - first session, 2003
REQUESTING THE STATE LAND OFFICE TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE SIGNAGE FOR THE EDWARD J. LOPEZ LAND OFFICE BUILDING.
WHEREAS, Edward J. Lopez served in the New Mexico house of representatives from 1969 to 1978 and in the senate from 1983 until his death in 1996; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the outstanding public service of Edward J. Lopez to the people of the state of New Mexico and his personal connection to the site upon which the state land office building sits, the legislature passed and the governor signed legislation in 1997 naming the land office building the "Edward J. Lopez Land Office Building"; and
WHEREAS, the current signage designating the land office building as the "Edward J. Lopez Land Office Building" is not readily visible to passersby; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state land office be requested to install more appropriate signage designating its building as the "Edward J. Lopez Land Office Building" that would be more readily visible to passersby; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the commissioner of public lands.
