State Department of Education (SDE)
SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Memorial 39 requests that the Explora! Science Center, the Children’s Museum and the State Department of Education develop procedures for informing schools of the availability of the center as an educational resource.
Significant
Issues
According to SDE, the Explora! Center creates
engaging interactive experiences that provide opportunities for discovery and
promote lifelong learning through interactive experiences in science,
technology and art.
The center and the Children’s Museum are
statewide resources and procedures are being developed to allow students from
school districts that are located a significant distance from Albuquerque to
spend the night at the facility.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Senate Memorial 39 will require the SDE to collaborate with the Explora! Center and the Children’s Museum to develop the procedures for informing the schools and districts.
