SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Joint Memorial 81 requests the governor to convene a task force to study land-use issues. The task force would responsible for reviewing:
q the
state’s planning, subdivision and land-use enabling statutes, and state agency
rules and policies;
q ways
for the state to more effectively serve the needs of state and local governments
in land-use planning; and
q mechanisms
to improve overall coordination of state responsibilities.
Task force report findings and recommendations
would be submitted to the governor by December 2003.
Significant Issues
Water resource development is an essential part of land-use planning in New Mexico. Growth of infrastructure and the availability of water are critical issues that must be considered, but these issues are not specifically addressed in this memorial.
