Issues
An appropriation in the amount of $275.0 has
been included in the Senate Finance Committee Amendments to House
Appropriations and Finance Committee Substitute for House Bills 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,
and 9 for a judgeship in the thirteenth judicial district. The appropriation of $275.0 would provide
funding for a district judge, trial court administrator, bailiff, court
reporter and other operating costs (please see attachment). This appropriation is contingent on the
passage of the Senate Judiciary Substitute for Senate Bill 917.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of
$586,580 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004
shall revert to the general fund. The
appropriation includes funding for salaries and benefits, furniture, supplies
and equipment for two additional judges and support staff.
