SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Bill 832
requires OSE to purchase, install and study prototypes of alternative devices
that accurately measure the flow of river water on a real-time basis. OSE will consult with Los Alamos National
Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories and the United States Geological
Survey in this effort.
Significant
Issues
OSE states these measuring devices will provide real-time
measurement of river flows.
NMED states additional accurate and plentiful
stream flow data would be beneficial to water quality planning efforts.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Costs will be incurred
in carrying out the requirements of this bill; however, no appropriation is
made. The original Senate Bill 852 had
$100.0 appropriated from general fund to carryout the intent of the proposed
statute.
