SUMMARY

 

     Synopsis of Bill

 

Senate Bill 753 requires state and local 911 systems to be able to receive emergency notifications by email.

 

     Significant Issues

 

SB 753 enhances the capabilities of the state and local 911 emergency centers.

 

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

 

DFA states SB 753 may require an additional computer and software to enable the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) to receive emergency notifications via e-mail. The cost will be approximately $5000 per PSAP. DFA has a total of 70 PSAPs but many of them already have the required equipment. The initial approximate cost will be less than  $350.0

 

In addition there is possibly a recurring fee of $300 a year for each PSAP to maintain internet access.  All costs will come from the Enhanced 911 fund.
