SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Bill 574
proposes to increase the fees for annual renewal of retailer dispenser, canopy,
and restaurant licenses by $50. The bill
also proposes to increase the application fee for the issuance of new, and for
transfers, of liquor licenses by $50.
Significant Issues
The Alcohol and Gaming Division asserts that the proposed fee increase would support adding
one FTE to the Division. This would
replace an FTE that had been lost over the course of the last eight years
because of budget cuts. This additional
FTE will increase the overall effectiveness of the regulation of alcohol
licenses.
The annual renewal fees have not been increased since 1993, and
applications for new and transfers of license fees have not been increased
since 1981.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The Alcohol and Gaming
Division estimates the proposed fee increases will result in a $100.0 increase
in revenue to the general fund.
The Division would like to see some of the $100.0 appropriated
back to support another FTE.
