     Synopsis of Bill

 

Senate Bill 343 amends Section 2-6-1 NMSA 1978 to change bill introduction deadlines for regular sessions of the Legislature.

 

     Significant Issues

 

Senate Bill 343 requires bills to be introduced prior to the 20th day during 60 day legislative sessions and prior to the 10th day during 30 day legislative sessions.

 

RELATIONSHIP

 

Relates to SCR 2.  Senate Concurrent Resolution 2 proposes a new joint rule that places limits on number of bills introduced by Senate and House members.

 


OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES

 

The limitation would not apply to the general appropriation bill, bills to provide for the current expenses of government or to bills referred to the legislature by special message from the Governor.
