Senate Bill 18 would require all schools to designate an attendance officer who shall report annually to the local board on excused and unexcused student absences.

currently being collected as part of the state’s accountability system.

The SDE notes that
Senate Bill 18 does not address a major concern of public schools regarding

Office and the District Attorney’s Office.
