SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
House Bill 922
appropriates $25,000 from the General Fund to the Office of Indian Affairs for
the purpose of a pilot project to preserve the Navajo language using Navajo elders
as instructors in the Mexican Springs chapter of the Navajo Nation.

Issues
The Office of Indian
Affairs reports that many Native American languages are in danger of extinction. Even Navajo, spoken by more people than any
other Native American language in the
