SUMMARY

     Synopsis of Bill

HB 332 appropriates $300.0 from the general fund to the Corrections Department in FY04 for the purpose of reimbursing Rio Arriba County for the expense of extraditing, transporting and feeding state inmates.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

$300.0 is appropriated from the General Fund to the Corrections Department in FY04 to use to reimburse Rio Arriba County for the expense of extraditing, transporting and feeding state inmates.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

The Corrections Department states that passage of this bill will increase the administrative burden on the Department’s accounting personnel.

RELATIONSHIP

HB 322 relates to HB308 that revises the statutes that determine how much will be paid to the counties for the extraditing, transporting and feeding state inmates.

OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES

The Corrections Department notes that many of the prisoners being extradited, transported and fed are not necessarily “state or Corrections” inmates and recommends that such funds be provided to Department of Finance and Administration for this purpose.
