Issues
The bill will enable individuals to pull all statutes relating to emergency powers from one section of the law. Enactment of HB 232 will make it easier for state and local governments to respond to an emergency by facilitating access to the relevant statutory authorities.
HB 232 is one of several emergency preparedness
bills prepared in the wake of September 11th. Department of Health (DOH), the Department of
Public Safety (DPS) and the Attorney General (AG) conducted a number of town
meetings to receive public input. The bill was presented to the Corrections
Oversight and Justice, Information Technology and Health and Human Services interim
committees.
