SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Joint Memorial
92 proposes a new focus for the DWI oversight task force. This focus being a comprehensive review
of all issues related to DWI in
The memorial notes
that the current task force has (for the past five years) unsatisfactorily addressed
the “public scourge” of DWI because the task force’s approach was “piecemeal”.
The memorial requests the legislative council
create an interim DWI oversight task force with responsibility for conducting a
comprehensive review and craft recommendations for consideration for the Second
session of the forty-sixth session.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
There is no
appropriation contained in SJM 92. There
will be FTE and budget implications for the legislative council in staffing
this interim committee. There may also
be costs associated with per diem and mileage for task force members, though
the memorial does not specifically provide for such compensation.
