SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
House Bill 812
appropriates $42.0 from the General to the Office of Indian Affairs for youth development
programs including the youth leadership project at the Tohatchi
Chapter in Tohatchi.
Significant
Issues
The Office of Indian Affairs reports the funds would be used for programs that support children and assist them
with developing strong leadership skills.
Early intervention, mentoring and self-esteem-building are some of the
components. The program goals are to
develop a strong, educated, skilled, happy, confident, and culturally-competent
new generation.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $42,000
contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General Fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of Fiscal Year 2004
shall revert to the General Fund.
