AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE AUDITORY ORAL EDUCATION AND FOLLOW-UP TREATMENT TO COCHLEAR-IMPLANTED DEAF STUDENTS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 to contract with a medical-educational institution that provides intensive specialized auditory oral education to provide auditory oral education and follow-up treatment to deaf students who have been treated surgically with multichannel cochlear implants. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
