MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO OFFICE OF INDIAN AFFAIRS FOR CHILD CARE AND FAMILY SUPPORT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico office of Indian affairs for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 to develop a child care and family support program that includes qualified and experienced staff, health and safety measures for children, developmentally appropriate activities and staff background and reference checks for the child care needs of low- and moderate-income Native American parents enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution in New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
