AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO RECRUIT AND ASSIST TEACHERS WHO WISH TO OBTAIN NATIONAL BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS CERTIFICATION.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 to recruit and assist qualified New Mexico teachers who wish to become certified by the national board for professional teaching standards. No more than three percent of this appropriation may be used for administrative costs incurred by the department. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
