SENATE BILL 211, as amended



has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:



1. Strike senate corporations and transportation committee amendments.



2. Strike House Transportation Committee Amendments 1, 2 and 6 through 15.

3. On page 1, line 11, after the semicolon insert "ENACTING A DESCRIPTION OF AND REQUIREMENTS FOR A STANDARDIZED SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATE;" and after "FOR" insert "A STANDARDIZED".



4. On page 1, line 12, strike "PLATES" and insert in lieu thereof "PLATE WITH A LOGO".



5. On page 1, line 12, strike "NEW MEXICO MAIL CARRIERS" and insert in lieu thereof "RETIRED NEW MEXICO STATE POLICE OFFICERS".



6. On page 1, line 18, after the beginning quotation marks insert "66-3-424.1.".



7. On page 1, line 18, before "REGISTRATION" insert "STANDARDIZED SPECIAL" and strike "PLATES" and insert in lieu thereof "PLATE".



8. On page 1, lines 18 and 19, strike "NEW MEXICO MAIL CARRIERS" and insert in lieu thereof "RETIRED NEW MEXICO STATE POLICE OFFICERS".

9. On page 1, strike lines 20 through 25 and on page 2, strike lines 1 through 7 and insert in lieu thereof:

"A. The division shall issue a standardized special registration plate with a logo specified in Section 66-3-424 NMSA 1978 indicating that the recipient is a person who is a retired New Mexico state police officer upon submission by the person of proof satisfactory to the division that the person is a retired New Mexico state police officer. The proof shall include the submission of a retirement commission from the New Mexico state police.



B. No person shall represent himself to be a retired New Mexico state police officer if that person is, in fact, not a retired New Mexico state police officer. The secretary shall determine what constitutes satisfactory proof that a person is a retired New Mexico state police officer.".



10. On page 2, strike lines 11 through 17 and insert in lieu thereof the following new subsections:



"D. A fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00), which is in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee, shall be collected by the division for the original issuance of the special registration plate for retired New Mexico state police officers.



E. Ten dollars ($10.00) of the fee collected pursuant to Subsection D of this section shall be retained by the division and is appropriated to the division to defray the cost of making and issuing special registration plates for retired New Mexico state police officers. The remaining fifteen dollars ($15.00) shall be deposited in the motor vehicle suspense fund for distribution pursuant to Section 66-6-23 NMSA 1978.".



11. Reletter succeeding subsections accordingly.



12. On page 2, line 18, strike "plate" and insert in lieu thereof "logo".



13. On page 2, line 19, after "registration" strike the remainder of the line, strike lines 20 and 21 and insert in lieu thereof "plate for retired New Mexico state police officers. The logo shall be clearly marked as "retired New Mexico state police"."".

14. On page 2, strike lines 22 through 25 and on page 3, strike lines 1 through 3.
