Mr. Speaker:
Your VOTERS AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
HOUSE BILL 984
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. On page 2, lines 8 through 11, strike the underscored language.
2. On page 5, line 24, strike "five" and insert in lieu thereof "four".
3. On page 5, line 25, after the period strike the remainder of the line, on page 6, lines 1 and 2, strike the underscored language and insert in lieu thereof "In non-class A counties with more than ten thousand registered voters, the county clerk shall establish at least two alternate voting locations. In non-class A counties with ten thousand registered voters or less, early voting shall be conducted in the office of the county clerk or at such alternative locations as may be designated by the county clerk.".
4. On page 10, between lines 7 and 8, insert the following new section to read:
"Section 7. A new section of the Election Code is enacted to read:
"[NEW MATERIAL] EARLY VOTER.--As used in the Election Code, "early voter" means a voter who votes in person before election day, and not by mail."".
