AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO HEALTH POLICY COMMISSION FOR A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY ON HEALTH CARE IN NEW MEXICO.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico health policy commission for expenditure in fiscal years 2004 and 2005 to conduct a comprehensive study to review or determine the impact of health care expenditures on the health care industry and the state's economy, including compensated and uncompensated costs; the expectations and outcomes of state and national health care reform efforts over the last ten to fifteen years; and the public and private cost of providing health care to all New Mexicans. The commission shall provide a written report to the appropriate legislative interim committee, the legislative finance committee and the New Mexico legislative council by November 1, 2004. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
