MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT FOR QUALITY AWARDS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the economic development department for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 to provide quality awards in accordance with executive order 95-16 and to seek matching funds from the private sector through a nonprofit organization that educates New Mexicans about quality; encourages and rewards quality in business, education, government and health care; and promotes an economic climate to foster and enhance the property of the citizens of New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
