AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR FAMILY CAREGIVER SUPPORT SERVICES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the state agency on aging for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 for the following purposes:

(1) two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to develop and implement a twenty-four-hour caregiver support hotline; and

(2) one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) to develop and implement a care corps pilot program to recruit and retain direct paraprofessional caregivers in institutional and community-based long-term care settings by providing the caregivers with lottery scholarship benefits.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
