AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR VARIOUS SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAM EXPENSES STATEWIDE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

A. Eight million two hundred sixty-nine thousand three hundred fifty-four dollars ($8,269,354) is appropriated from the general fund to the state agency on aging for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 for the following purposes and in the following amounts:

(1) five hundred twenty-six thousand two hundred twelve dollars ($526,212) to provide for increased volunteers for the foster grandparent, senior companion and RSVP programs;

(2) nine hundred seventy-two thousand two hundred thirty-five dollars ($972,235) for senior centers and other supportive services;

(3) three million three hundred twenty-four thousand three hundred one dollars ($3,324,301) for home- and community-based services;

(4) one million fifty-three thousand dollars ($1,053,000) for funding basic employee health and retirement benefits to employees of senior citizen programs and service providers statewide through six area agencies on aging;

(5) seventeen thousand five hundred dollars ($17,500) for the long-term care ombudsman program;

(6) forty-two thousand four hundred seventy-four dollars ($42,474) for increased information, assistance and education services for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related disorders and their families or caregivers;

(7) six hundred fifty-five thousand three dollars ($655,003) for congregate meals through area agencies on aging;

(8) four hundred eighty thousand five hundred sixty-nine dollars ($480,569) for home-delivered meals through area agencies on aging;

(9) two hundred thirty-five thousand seven hundred ninety-four dollars ($235,794) for transportation services through area agencies on aging;

(10) eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) for statewide senior citizen olympic activities;

(11) twelve thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500) for the health insurance and benefits assistance corps;

(12) twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) for the senior employment program;

(13) eleven thousand six hundred forty-two dollars ($11,642) for the legal assistance program; and

(14) eight hundred thirty-three thousand one hundred twenty-four dollars ($833,124) for administrative support for the aging network.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
