AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE MAINTENANCE OF EFFORT FUNDING FOR THE NAVAJO NATION AND PUEBLO OF ZUNI TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES PROGRAMS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Six million nine hundred forty-six thousand three hundred eighty-four dollars ($6,946,384) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in the following fiscal years in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) one hundred eighty-six thousand eight hundred seventy dollars ($186,870) in fiscal years 2003 through 2006 for maintenance of effort funding for the temporary assistance for needy families program of the Pueblo of Zuni;

(2) three million two hundred eighty-six thousand three hundred twenty-two dollars ($3,286,322) in fiscal years 2003 through 2006 for maintenance of effort funding for the temporary assistance for needy families program of the Navajo Nation;

(3) one hundred eighty-six thousand eight hundred seventy dollars ($186,870) in fiscal years 2004 through 2006 for maintenance of effort funding for the temporary assistance for needy families program of the Pueblo of Zuni; and

(4) three million two hundred eighty-six thousand three hundred twenty-two dollars ($3,286,322) in fiscal years 2004 through 2006 for maintenance of effort funding for the temporary assistance for needy families program of the Navajo Nation.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
