A MEMORIAL

PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 18, 2003 AS "EXTENSION SERVICE DAY" AT THE LEGISLATURE AND HONORING NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY'S COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE FOR ITS EXEMPLARY EFFORTS IN TAKING THE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE AND HOME ECONOMICS TO THE RESIDENTS OF NEW MEXICO.



WHEREAS, New Mexico state university's cooperative extension service has provided expertise and educational programs in agriculture, home economics, natural resources, economic development and 4-H youth development to the people of New Mexico for more than eighty-five years; and

WHEREAS, the cooperative extension service operates with cooperative funding from federal, state and county government with offices in every county in the state; and

WHEREAS, the cooperative extension service offers research-based education to all New Mexicans and helps them improve the quality of their lives; and

WHEREAS, the cooperative extension service administers the 4-H youth development program, which involves fifty-five thousand young people in New Mexico, teaching them the skills they need to become productive citizens and leaders;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 18, 2003 be designated as "Extension Service Day" at the legislature; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to New Mexico state university's cooperative extension service.
