A JOINT MEMORIAL

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF ELMER BRITTON ROBBINS, JR.



WHEREAS, Elmer Britton Robbins, Jr., died April 5, 2001; and

WHEREAS, he was born in 1918 in Aransas Pass, Texas, and moved to Portales while a boy; and

WHEREAS, he served in the army air corps during World War II, after which he returned to Portales to farm; and

WHEREAS, E.B. was a member of the Calvary Baptist church, the New Mexico peanut association, the Roosevelt water cooperative and the Roosevelt county electric cooperative and was a director of the Clovis production credit association; and

WHEREAS, E.B. was a man of pure kindness and caring for other area farmers, and one hour with E.B. Robbins discussing farming was the same as farming ten years; and

WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife Anna Merle, his son, former Representative Gary Robbins, his brother Jim, his sister Hazel and many nieces and nephews;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that condolences be extended to the family and friends of Elmer Britton Robbins, Jr., a loving and devoted New Mexican; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to Anna Merle Robbins and former Representative Gary Robbins.
